Scans confirm broken finger for Warner

David Warner has suffered a broken finger, with Australia’s form batsman to spend up to six weeks on the sidelines.

Cricket Australia (CA) is consulting specialists regarding Warner’s intra-articular fracture but the vice-captain is upbeat he won’t require surgery.

If he avoids going under the knife, Warner is set to miss between two to six weeks.

The best-case scenario for the opener would be returning for the final of the ongoing ODI tri-series, in Barbados on June 26.

But there is every chance Warner will be racing the clock to prove his fitness before July 26, when Australia start a three-Test series in Sri Lanka.
