28 suspected illegal immigrants found in the back of a lorry in Portsmouth

Staff from South Central Ambulance Service revealed they received a call to attend the scene around 9.45am.

A spokesman for the service said: “We sent ambulance officers, our hazardous areas response team and two ambulance crews.

“Just one adult male was taken to the Queen Alexandra hospital in Portsmouth for treatment to a medical complaint.”

The nationalities and ages of all those involved, including the driver, has not yet been released. It is not known if there were any children on board.
