England 199-6 at tea in first Sri Lanka Test

GALLE: Debutant wicketkeeper-batsman Ben Foakes made an unbeaten 49 as England reached 199 for six at tea on day one of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle on Tuesday.

Foakes put on 61 runs for the sixth wicket with Jos Buttler, who made 38, to lead the tourists’ revival after they were reduced to 103-5. Sam Curran, on 14, was batting alongside Foakes at tea.

Off-spinner Dilruwan Perera took three wickets, while retiring Rangana Herath claimed his 100th Test scalp at the venue.
